Easy Belgian Waffle Recipe


Waffles are a great and simple breakfast option at my house and they are always in popular demand! The recipe I found and modified does not require yeast (unlike many other waffle recipes) so you can have instant waffle gratification.


  • 2 cups flour
  • 4 tsp baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1/2 tsp cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla
  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil
  • 2 cups milk
  • 2 eggs
  • Cooking spray (or you can use butter or olive oil) for the waffle iron
  • Your favorite waffle toppings


  • Turn on waffle iron and adjust setting to amount of crispiness desired
  • Using a sieve, sift flour into a large bowl
  • Add in baking soda, salt, sugar and cinnamon and whisk ingredients together
  • In a separate bowl, whisk together the vanilla, vegetable oil, milk and eggs
  • Add liquid mix to dry mix and whisk together until the batter is smooth
  • Spray waffle iron lightly with cooking spray
  • Scoop waffle batter into waffle iron
  • Rotate iron and wait until indicator turns on, signaling your waffle is ready
  • Remove waffle and add your favorite toppings!

My waffle tips:

  • The best tool to scoop batter is a ladle, don’t use those silly cups included with your waffle iron- you will just make a huge mess!
  • You can substitute out the vegetable oil for an alternative (I’ve used olive oil) but it will not taste quite the same
  • You can store the batter in a closed container in the fridge for 24 hours
