Halloween Sugar Cookie Recipe

This is a super easy and very delicious recipe for sugar cookies. I purchased some Halloween themed cookie cutters from Michael’s Arts & Crafts (don’t forget to use your coupon!) and made a huge batch of cookies one afternoon. They were such a hit, the cookies didn’t last for longer than 24 hours with a couple guests over (and there were a lot of cookies)!

You can decorate with icing or sprinkles, but I think the cookies themselves already have the proper amount of sweetness. 🙂

  • 1 1/2 cups butter, room temperature
  • 3 cups sugar
  • 4 eggs
  • 1 tsp vanilla
  • 5 cups flour
  • 2 tsp baking powder
  • 1 tsp salt

  • In a large bowl, mix together butter and sugar until smooth
  • Mix in eggs and vanilla
  • Stir in flour, baking powder and salt
  • Roll into sphere, cover and refrigerate for the night (or at least an hour)
  • Preheat oven to 400F
  • Roll out dough onto a sugared surface to about 1/4″ thick and use your cookie cutter to cut out shapes
  • Place cookies on baking sheet covered with aluminum foil
  • Cook for 6 minutes
  • Let cookies cool completely
